The barrister was probably setting the scene to build his argument as in court, but it didn’t work in that setting.

“Long on faith, short on evidence”, that describes everything from the Big Bang to the fervent belief that the thylacine still roams Cradle Mtn. Short on evidence doesn’t disprove anything, it’s just a factlet.

It wasn’t even focused as an establishing argument, though. His style was quite nervy and abrupt, like David Brent on speed, especially when he started reenacting a scene out of “Life of Brian”.
