My name is Dion Detterer, and I’m a 30 year old Australian living just outside of sunny Sydney. By day, I’m a Computer Science student, but by night I’m an armchair philosopher, film and music critic and comparative religion enthusiast.

As for my own beliefs, I’m what you’d call a panentheist—someone who believes in something that is both immanent (i.e. in the world) and transcendent (i.e. beyond the world). Call it God, the Goddess, Brahman, the collective unconscious, the Force, etcetera (just don’t call it late for dinner!), this eternal essence (for want of a better word) we get glimpses of but never fully know in any rational sense. But the mystery of life is what excites us, pushing us towards creating the greatest of art.

If you’re one of those wackos who believe in personality types, then you’ll either be relieved or distressed to learn that I’m an INTP (which roughly translates to GEEK). This, of course, guarantees that I’ll be the next Albert Einstein!

This blog is a way for me to unite all these ideas. We’re entering a new, globalised era, where our place in the Universe, and our relationship to the Cosmos, is more relevant than ever, and I want to explore these concepts in all their facets. The time is right for a paradigm shift, so strap yourselves in and prepare to be shifted…
